Rom.6 v.23 – The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
That first phrase – The wages of sin is death, – takes us right back to the creation story – the disobedience and rejection of God’s way. God did not create us as robots carefully programmed to stay rigidly in a fixed pattern for our lives; he gave us the freedom to choose – – My Way – or – God’s Way. – – Sadly, God knew that mankind would fail to follow in God’s way but, in his love for mankind, again back in the time of creation, God made provision for mankind to turn back to him. Yes – The wages of sin is death, – but – the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – ‘Gift’ – freely given.
The choice today is – death because we – ‘did it my way’ – or – eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. –
A gift freely given but – which way have you chosen?
Jesus said – “I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14 v.6
