Thank you to Ian for this week’s MWB
God the Redeemer – – Psalm 103
Paul in Romans 6 v.21 asks – “What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? – – -Those things result in death.”
In Psalm 103 v.2 The psalmist writes –
Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits
Benefits leading to death – – – or – – – Benefits leading to life
The psalmist has made his choice so, in v.10 continues – “he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.”
Paul writes in Romans 6 v.23 – “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
In v.4 the psalmist tells us – “he redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.” – And in v.12 writes – “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
In Romans 5 v.10 Paul writes – “If, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!”
And in Hebrews 9 v.14 we read – “How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our conscience from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!”
Choice – – Benefits leading to death – – – or – – – Benefits leading to life
Can we rejoice with the psalmist in v.17 – “from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him and his righteousness with their children’s children.”
Is Ps 103 v.2 a warning – Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits
In Heb.2 v.3 we are asked – – “How shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him.”
