Mid-week Bridge 19 November 2025

Thank you to Mark R for this week’s MWB

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.”

Romans 5:1-2 NIV

Over the last two weeks we have been looking at the Good News of the Gospel through those two words in Romans 3:21, where Paul says “But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known”

Ever since the Fall in the Garden of Eden, we have been held in the grip of sin, unable to help ourselves, and unable to stand before a Holy God on the Day of Judgment.

“But now” Paul says, God has made a way for us to be justified, ‘just as if I’d never sinned’, by providing His own righteousness to cover us through the death of His Son Jesus on the cross.

And this all comes to us as a gift, a gift simply received by faith: “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.”

Jesus takes my unrighteousness on the cross, and then clothes me with His own righteousness as I come to Him, trusting in what He has done for me, taking my sin.

And the wonderful thing is, “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”. Justified by faith, clothed in His righteousness, we can freely come into God’s presence, knowing we are loved and secure because of all that He has done for us.

This isn’t pie in the sky wishful thinking. This is truth, based on “The Word (Jesus) becoming flesh and making His dwelling among us” (John 1:14), 2000 years ago. He came so that we might have peace with God.

May we know that peace that comes from trusting His finished work for us on the cross.
