Thank you to Pat for this week’s MWB
Love of the Father – Grace
Have you remembered our important phrase as we consider again God’s love and grace?
GRACE – Gods riches at Christ’s expense
2 Tim.1 v.9b/10 – This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Saviour, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
These verses tell us that salvation is given by God’s grace; was given before the world began and is revealed through the gospel of Jesus Christ who, by dying on the cross, abolished death and brought eternal life and salvation to the world. It speaks to the way in which God has rescued us from sin and darkness, and has chosen us to live a life dedicated to Him. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we have been redeemed and called to a life that is set apart for God’s purposes.
Even while we were still sinners God made a way for us to be reconciled to Him, displaying the depth of His unconditional love for us. The transformative power of God’s grace working in our lives can bring us from a place of brokenness to one of holiness and purpose. Have you had an experience of this in your own life, where God has transformed a dark or difficult situation, or where you’ve felt your life has more purpose because God is at work in you through the power of the Holy Spirit? Or perhaps you need to ask for his help now for yourself or someone else you know or are praying for?
We should be encouraged and filled with hope, in knowing that we are not only saved by God’s grace, but that he continues to work in us and through us to transform us, setting us apart to live a life that brings glory to Him. God has destroyed death and offers us life, and life in all its fullness (John 10: 10) – so may God’s grace work in us today and everyday to bring light, transformation and healing.
Gracious Lord, thank you for conquering darkness and bringing the light of your salvation to us through Jesus’ death on the cross. Thank you for the hope we have in you and the knowledge that we can trust you with each detail of our lives. Fill us with the Holy Spirit so that we can be transformed to live in your strength and conquer darkness and walk always in your truth and light. In Jesus’ name. Amen
